These are the best statistical starting hands you can get in Texas Hold-Em.
Remember, the starting hands don’t win the pots, the table cards and the betting does. The biggest mistake people make is trying to hold on to these cards, calling anything, with the hopes that their cards will fall. As hard at it is to believe… someone with a pair of twos will beat A-K suited and wreck your night, if you don’t have anything and call every raise carelessly.
1. Ace-Ace
Best Starting Hand (Obviously)
2. King-King
2nd best hand, but you need to be careful when an Ace comes down on the table. As hard as it is, a raise means: FOLD
3. Queen-Queen
Like above, if an Ace or King drops, fold if a large raise is made.
4. Ace-King
Suited is slightly best in this hand, but the flop needs to work with you. If you get nothing, don’t be afraid to fold. It will cost you more in the long run holding on for the ‘magic card’.
5. Jack-Jack
Tough hand to play as a A,K,or Q will win, but will still win 20% of the time!
6. Ace-Queen
My personal worst starting hand, as I lose EVERY time with this, but is the 2nd best drawing hand and will win 20% of the time when suited.
7. King-Queen
Great hand, but be afraid of an Ace or small-card flops.
8. Ace-Jack
Nothing special here, just a good hand when played well.
9. King-Jack
Suited, it wins 19%. Unsuited, it wins 15%. It will be beaten by any hand listed above and can be beaten by any pair if you don’t catch one of these two cards on the flop. Again, don’t be afraid to fold.
10. Ace-Ten
Excellent hand when suited as it can fill a straight or a high card flush. Be careful if someone bets real big with an Ace on the table. You may get beat by the kicker.
